I feel like in America the homeless are being given money but less opportunities, attention and loving. Yea, there’s salvation army and homeless shelters that help some get back up on their feet, but what if that’s not what they need? I volunteered at the Salvation army this summer where we cooked for them  and served them as they watched movies. What if they’re just getting a free ride? What if they want to change and long for some intentional help?

This is home sweet home, an organization I wish I found sooner! It aligns up perfectly with some ideas me and C have been throwing around for business ideas.

Home Sweet Home Mission:

Loving and caring for those with special needs by building their character in a loving home environment and developing their skills through education and training, and assisting their integration by being the bridge between the community and the needy ones.

The organization is geared towards special needs homeless; a common issue here in China. Everyone there has been handicapped somehow and through their struggles, they unite and become a family! The love they had for each other was something you spot in an instant! It made me wonder if they were more happy than we are on a daily basis, despite how much we have compared to what they’ve been through. It was incredibly beautiful to see them live so happily!

Here are some photos from our first volunteer experience with them. It was extremely inspiring! They gave us a tour of the place, described how they started the organization and gave us a good sense of the loving community they have there! It was super sweet to see them empowered, learning and loving!
