This Thanksgiving weekend we volunteered at a Shanghai Village Community Center. These kids come from low income migrant families whose parents aren’t around often. China, being a country that doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, has shown me what it truly means to be thankful for parents. Yea, we always say we’re thankful for them, but here is an example of kids who don’t get the love and attention that every child should be receiving from their parents. These children have a special charm about them. There’s a story behind each of them- how they got to this village and what they return to each night.
We somewhat tried to explain the concept of Thanksgiving but they just wanted to paint and make whatever they wanted…
