From a combination of many different reasons, I really felt called to go to SLO United Methodist Church today. Waking up I didn’t know why i was going. I wasn’t expecting to find anything, but knew God was gonna teach me something there.
The pastor; Jane Voigts.
She was such a refreshing and lively pastor, the first female reverend I’ve ever heard! What added to all this was learning that she was actually a well known stand-up comedian before going into ministry! It makes a lot of sense as you listen to her preach and interact with the congregation!
She received her calling to go into ministry and went for it! Since then, she’s embraced her gifts in comedy and created Angelic Residue, a spirit led improvisational acting troupe! Jane became known for exploring “The Comedy of the Bible.”
In about 2 month, she’ll be leaving SLO UMC to start her own branch of Comedian focused ministry in LA where she feels called to move among the entertainers and performers in southern CA!

This morning’s service was just extremely encouraging to talk to someone who pursued her passions and utilized it for God! She wasn’t afraid to start something new and saw things others didn’t see. Such a genuine woman of God doing amazing things. I can’t wait for summer to see what God has in store for me and my art!
